Year 6 Excursion
On Tuesday, the 16th of March, all Year 6 students went on an excursion to Minnamurra Rainforest and Jamberoo Action Park.
We had to wake up very early in the morning as we were leaving 7:00am. On the bus, we watched a movie as the drive took approximately two hours. The sudden smell of the fresh, moist air meant that we had finally arrived at the rainforest.
All of Year 6 first ate their recess near the café. Following recess, we watched a PowerPoint about Minnamurra Rainforest. Then our tour guide took us through the rainforest itself. The plants and animals that we saw left our group of students breathless. We started to take pictures of many of the amazing things that we saw such as buttress roots, strangler figs, fungi, epiphytes, lichens, and of the beautiful animals.
After that, we approach a junction displaying a big sign that read, “You are going to be walking up steep hills”. You can just imagine what we were all thinking. As a class, we walked for over a kilometre! However, we were all promised that at the end of the track was something really spectacular and that was all the motivation we needed to keep walking.
Finally, we were at the end of the track. In front of us was one of the most stunning sights I had ever seen. We were standing only metres away from Minnamurra Waterfall. We all took out our cameras and started to take pictures of the dazzling site. After that, we headed back down the track. By the time we got back to our starting point, most of us were exhausted.
Soon it was time for lunch, we ate at the tables that were provided for us and we spent some time chatting to our friends.
The time was running quickly. Now it was time for part two of our excursion. We were off to JAMBEROO! As soon as we arrived, everyone got changed into their swimming clothes. We were so excited! We all went on the Typan ride first. It was fun! Next, we went to jump off the 3m and 5m cliffs. Miss Obeid went on everything that day but was too scared to jump off the cliffs. All the students encouraged her to jump but she was not confident enough so we moved on. After a few minutes, we went on the green waterslide three times. We were all racing each other down the slide. The wave beach, tobogganing, car racing and swirl pool were the last rides we went on. After that, we changed, prayed and headed back to school.
It was an amazing day!
