History

Al-Faisal College was established on 27 April 1998 on the present site.
In the first year, enrolments were 49 students spread amongst 3 classes, from Kindergarten to Year Two.

Our enrolments have grown remarkably. In 2009 we will have more than 1000 students enrolled from K-12. Our second cohort of Year 12 students will present for the Higher School Certificate in 2009.

Al-Faisal College follows the N.S.W Board of Studies curriculum while providing further opportunities for our students to learn the Arabic language, the Holy Quran and Islamic Studies.

The College motto briefly summarises the particular aims of the College, to help our students to become successful Australian citizens through their faith and knowledge.
Al-Faisal College is based on providing education to students to become effective members of the
Australian society, imbued with Australian and Islamic values which foster their spiritual, moral, social, physical and intellectual development.

Teachers and students work together to fulfill the expectations of parents and the community.
Parents are involved in school activities and participate in fundraising and excursions. The College offers assistance and guidance to students.

It is essential that the staff of Al-Faisal College and the parents work together as a team to support the students through this time of great development. Our aim is to assist students as they strive for academic and personal success, by providing effective support to achieve their goals.

As a growing school, the College has acknowledged the need for an effective, sensitive Student Welfare Policy. In 2003, we were the only Islamic school in Australia funded by the Commonwealth, under its Values Education Initiative, to develop a Student Welfare Policy incorporating Islamic Values. Our school was selected to participate in a national conference on Values Education, held in Melbourne in April, 2004.

The College provides an environment which promotes cultural tolerance, compassion and living in harmony with other communities. The staff of Al-Faisal College, both Muslim and non-Muslim, are well trained and experienced in a wide range of teaching and learning trategies, which enable them to provide a high quality of education.

Students are taught to understand and acknowledge the cultural and linguistic diversity within the Australian community.

In Term 1, 2004, the school's first Deputy Principal, Mr Peter Rompies, was appointed on merit. An experienced high school teacher with particular interests in PD/Health/PE, Computer studies and staff supervision & development, Mr Rompies is already playing a major role in enhancing quality teaching & learning & school safety.

In 2008, in order to provide support to the school executive, a second Deputy Principal, Mrs. Nouha Ghannoum was appointed. Mrs Ghannoum has many years of teaching and administrative experience. Her special area of responsibility is to look the welfare and administration of the primary school.

On 29 August 2005, the Prime Minister of Australia Hon. John Howard MP visited Al-Faisal
College to officially open the New Complex (Building B) and lay the foundation stone for the new building (Building C). The function was also attended by the diplomats, parliamentarians, Councillors, local and inter-state business community and staff of Al-Faisal College.
