Facilities

LIBRARY:
The library houses over 22000 book and non-book items. Now resources are added constantly to improve our collection.

Teachers are assisted in locating resources related to their teaching subjects, the library provide teachers with other services such as bookbinding and laminating. During library lessons students are taught basic library skills, including alphabetical order and research, and appreciation of literature.

They are also encouraged to participate in the Premier's Reading Challenge and Book Week activities. For Book Week this year, we are being visited by a famous author.

Each student is issued with a library card upon enrolment at Al-Faisal College. As well as regular class visits, all students are encouraged to use the school library and its resources during lunchtime. Students must present their library card to borrow books or any other library items. All resources must be returned to the librarian before the end of each term.

 

BOOK CLUBS:
Every primary student has been given the opportunity to purchase products from both Scholastic book club and Zaky book club.

Schoolastic Australia: The products provided by Scholastic are organised into year levels making sure that the products available for sale are suitable for each level. Children are given the opportunity to buy story books, games software as well as education materials.

Zaky book club: Zaky book club was introduced to Al Faisal College in 2008. Students are able to purchase both Arabic and Islamic products such as books, games and songs.

Both book clubs have been a success and will continue to do so en shaa Allah (if Allah wills).

COMPUTER LABORATORIES:

As computers became an integral, rather than optional extra, part of the educational process, Al Faisal College had recently reviewed this essential student facility to provide all school students with the most important tool of information access and management.

The school established a second spacious computer lab, and cleared all previous computers in the first one. Now all students can use high performance computers. In addition, teacher staff rooms are equipped with computers for their daily work. All staff and student computers are accessing broadband Internet. Classes that frequently need to have access to computers and Internet, such as Design and Technology ans Visual Arts, are equipped with in-class computers to satisfy their needs.

Staff and students are encouraged to use their own accounts and to maintain their own private files and server space quotas. School network, computers, devices, and Internet access are closely maintained by a dedicated IT officer around the time who also provide all users with the support they need.

SPORT:

The school has recently installed a multipurpose facility sport cemtre which aims to cater all the student's physical needs. The sport centre allows for a variety of sports to be played such as; basketball, cricket, netball, volleyball, tennis and soccer.

It is compulsory for the students to use the area during practical PE lessons and are also encouraged to use it during recess and lunch times.

TRAIN / BUS PASSES:

The School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS) can only be used for:

Travel between home and the school campus at which the student is enrolled, and

Approved travel, Monday to Friday on school days.

 

To be eligible for the Scheme an applicant must be:

a resident of NSW and or 4 years and 6 months of age or older and enrolled as one of the following:

an infant student (K-2) regardless of the distance between their home and school.

primary student (Year 3-6) who lives more than 1.6 kms. (radial distance) from school, or 2.3 kms. or more by the most direct practical walking route to the nearest entry point to the school.

secondar student (Year 7-12) who lives more than 2 kms. (radial distance) from school, or 2.9 kms. or more by the most direct walking route to the nearest entry to the school.
