Merit awards are presented to students during school assemblies. The following merit awards system is used at Al-Faisal College:
Primary School Awards - Levels of Attainment
3 white merit awards = 1 blue merit award
3 blue merit awards = 1 banner
5 banners = Deputy Principal's Award
2 Deputy Principal's Awards = Principal's award
High School Awards - Levels of Attainment
5 tokens = 1 merit award
5 merit awards = 1 faculty award
3 faculty awards = Deputy Principal's award
4 faculty awards = Principal's award
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Full and part scholarships have been introduced to reward academic excellence within the school for each grade (Years 7-12). The following scholarship structure has been established to reward academic achievement in each Year group (Years 7-12):
1st Place (Highest Achiever) = Full scholarship (1 year's tuition)
2nd Place (Proxime Accessit) = Half scholarship (2 term tuition) (terms 3 & 4)
3rd Place = Half scholarship (2 term tuition) (terms 3 & 4)
4th Place = Partial scholarship (1 term tuition) (term 4)
5th Place = Partial scholarship (1 term tuition) (term 4)
HIGHER SCHOOL CERTIFICATE AWARDS
The School Board will award students in Year 12 a gift of $500.00 for each subject in which they achieve 90% or above (Band 6) in the HSC.
ADF LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK AWARDS
The ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards have been established by the Australian Government (through the Australian Defence Force) to recognise and reward students (Year 10, 11, 12) who demonstrate leadership and teamwork within both the school and the broader community.
Nominated award winners of this award will be presented with a cheque and certificate during presentation day, with $100 being awarded to a Year 10 student; $250 to a Year 11 student and $500 to a Year 12 student.
